Helper is an historic town in central Utah’s canyon and plateau country. Established in the late 19th century as a railroad and coal mining hub, the town's name originates from the "helper" engines used to assist trains up the steep grade of the southern Wasatch mountain range. Today, Helper is renowned for its vibrant arts scene, historic architecture and vintage signs.
Helper’s Main Street commercial district, as well as many of the surrounding residential streets, are on the National Register of Historic Places.
